How to Remove Stubborn Stains from Smart Dresses for Girls

Unfortunately, it's happened – your daughter's favourite outfit has got dirty during wild games with friends. Well, a child isn't a mannequin, and it's difficult to expect them to constantly stand in one place so as not to ruin their smart dress.

But what do you do when a stain won't come out? Is such a dress for girls only fit for the bin? How can you save the outfit and get rid of unwanted stains without risking damage to the fabric? Read on!

Most Importantly – Stay Calm!

If your daughter dirties her elegant dress for girls, first and foremost, stay calm. Ask what happened and try to change her outfit quickly. Explain the whole situation in a calm voice so she understands why avoiding staining clothes is so important.

Remember that your child didn't dirty their smart dress deliberately and didn't want to upset you this way. They're just getting to know the world and don't always realise the consequences of their actions. They don't yet know that a grass or blood stain, for example, might permanently ruin an outfit.

Your relationship should be more important than material things. Later, you can think about what to do to restore your daughter's dress to its former glory.

How to Remove Grass Stains?

Grass stains are amongst the most difficult to remove and one of the most common that children bring home on their clothes. A small stumble on grass and a green mark on a smart dress for girls is ready. This all happens because of the chlorophyll in plants, which stains clothing fabric very strongly.

When removing grass stains, time is crucial. You cannot let them dry! To effectively remove them, soak the stained dress for girls in cold water. For better effect, you can add a little rubbing alcohol. For white clothes, citric acid, hydrogen peroxide, or washing-up liquid also work brilliantly.

Immerse the smart dress for girls in the solution prepared this way, gently rub the stained area, and leave to soak. Then wash the garment as indicated in the care instructions on the label.

How to Remove Blood Stains?

Sometimes children's falls end so unfortunately that they leave a wound that bleeds. If this has stained a smart dress for girls, it's worth reacting quickly. The intense red of blood browns over time and becomes set in the fabric.

Use cold water to remove blood stains. This is very important because liquid that's too warm will cause the protein in blood to coagulate, making the stain even more set in the fabric.

To strengthen the cleaning effect, add table salt or use carbolic soap. For white fabrics, lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, or bicarbonate of soda also work well. Then gently rub the stained fabric and rinse until the stain completely disappears. You can soak the material in the solution beforehand. Afterwards, wash the garment as usual.

How to Remove Greasy Stains from Clothing?

Most small children don't yet have well-coordinated movements. Therefore, it might happen that during a formal dinner, a spoonful of soup ends up straight on a smart dress for girls instead of in their mouth. What do you do in such a situation so that a greasy stain doesn't ruin a favourite outfit?

In this case, use carbolic soap, bicarbonate of soda, and hydrogen peroxide. First, rub the stain with detergent under running water. Then pour hydrogen peroxide over it for a few minutes. Next, use soapy water again, and finally wash in the machine with added bicarbonate of soda.

A stain that's also difficult to remove is a combination of grease and dye, such as curry spice. In this case, soak the stained dress for girls in a solution of carbolic soap and leave for an hour. Rinse the outfit thoroughly, then using a microfibre cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol, rub the stain for several minutes. Finally, wash in the machine as usual.

How to Remove Chocolate from Smart Dresses for Girls?

One of children's favourite treats is, of course, chocolate. Unfortunately, just as well as it tastes, it stains clothes just as effectively. And as we know, children like to eat with "their whole selves." How do you wash a smart dress for girls stained with chocolate?

For removing chocolate stains, warm milk works brilliantly! Pour it over the stained area on the clothing, then wash the whole thing in warm water with soap. If the stain still won't come out, try a combination of egg yolk and glycerine. Apply the mixture to the stain and after a few minutes, rinse with warm water. A solution of bicarbonate of soda also works well.

How to Remove Chewing Gum from Children's Clothing?

Anyone who's never removed chewing gum from children's hair doesn't know life! In the worst case, you can cut off the strand stuck with it. However, if chewing gum gets on a smart dress for girls, the situation becomes serious. With clothing, you need to handle it differently. How?

Simply place the dress for girls in a bag, then put it in the freezer overnight. The next day, scrape the gum off the clothing. Remove any remains using a cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol. Done!

How to Get Rid of Yellow Stains on Outfits?

The cause of such discolouration might be perspiration, drying clothes in the sun, or washing in water with a high iron content. If you've noticed yellow stains on white or light smart dresses for girls, you don't have to throw them in the bin immediately.

To get rid of yellowing on children's clothes, simply use bleach. However, if you prefer home methods, use:

  • A solution of vinegar and water, plus a mixture of salt, bicarbonate of soda, and hydrogen peroxide, in which you soak clothes before washing
  • A solution of lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, and warm water for soaking before washing

Although stains on children's clothes sometimes look serious, they can usually be removed. It's worth staying calm and matching your approach to the type of stain.
